Sasa Kotnik (Slovenia, No. 10)

I have been playing volleyball for 24 years!  However, I have only been playing sitting volleyball since 1998, and first represented Slovenia at the 1999 European Championship in Sarajevo.  I came to sitting volleyball only a year after I was involved in a motorcycle accident in 1997, which resulted in me having my leg amputated below the knee.  I first heard about Sitting Volleyball at my rehabilitation center, when I saw they organised some sessions and even had a team.  I distinctly remember thinking 'WOW I can still play volleyball after my accident!’  The chance to represent my country internationally excited me even more...

There are a lot of differences, like the court being smaller, but that makes the game so much faster, and that is the main reason why I love it.

Playing Volleyball before helped, but it is not essential, if you commit to the training you can learn!
