‘I experienced polio during my childhood and lost the ability to walk normally, but on the volleyball court, I found confidence. Every time I hear the national anthem, I get particularly excited and feel that my own life is particularly valuable again.
I have now won 3 Paralympic Gold Medals and it is great to feel like a champion. I have also completed a major event in life when I got married and had children and my husband, Wei Cheng who is a tall and handsome man. He is an able-bodied person who participates in computer training and in 2006 he tells me he recognised the self-reliance motivation I had when we walked together.
In 2009 my son was born son and when he was only 8-months old I felt 'cruel' to him when I went back to the volleyball court, as I could no longer be there for my son every day. From then I have trained every morning at Pujiang Town, Minhang and the Gold medal in London made it all worth it. Especially when I put the medal around my sons neck and he said "my mom is a champion".
