‘In the past I loved football and was becoming a promising player. Football was my passion and I waited every night for the next day on a grassy field in Visoko in Bosnia.
However, in early 2002 my right leg began have severe ulcer changes. Whilst it appeared harmless this was the beginning of my life changing. The disease progressed and as early April turned into a sepsis. I beat the disease but now live with half a hip and a leg that is a few inches shorter.
At first I could not accept this, but a meeting with the sitting volleyball coach forever changed my life. I started to play sitting volleyball and this became my new passion. I not only found a new sport but also a lot of great people.
My greatest achievement was winning the Gold Medal at the London 2012 Paralympic Games and now I wouldn’t change my life in anyway.’
