Alexander Savichev (Russia, No. 12)

‘After a road traffic accident I was looking for something that would help me feel valuable and be able to reach the peaks in the life. When you are 15 years old it's really hard to recognize your own disability and of course I was sure that life is much bigger and more positive than I felt with my amputation.

One day in hospital I accidentally met the captain of Russia Sitting Volleyball national team and he told me about the sport. So I joined the team and here began a new time in my life. There were different times: it was hard, I had to learn a lot, but I immediately realized that this is my sport.'

'From the very first moment I realized that I wanted to achieve victories and that I was ready to give the maximum to do it. Everyday now I do everything to remain a good player and increase my skills. Despite the fact that our team is quite successful I am convinced that ahead are new achievements. Of course, I have my own sports aims and I believe new victories are brighter and more meaningful than those that have already been.’
